Mid-May Farm News

Our crops are growing well, as are the gooslings (Canadian), baby killdeer chicks and the newly hatched robin’s eggs we recently found! Peas are up and thriving, carrots have germinated, lettuce, spinach, arugula, beets, bok choy and cabbages look terrific. Tomatoes and eggplant, along with a half-dozen other crops, will be planted this coming week. Mother Nature has already thrown us a few curve balls (that spell of hot weather brought veggie-loving pests to the fields a full month early!)

Like other farmers all over New England, we are feeling a month behind, anxiously anticipating our first harvests and are oh-so-eager to start eating more locally-grown food again! Looks like the CSA distributions might begin the week of June 4!
