FAQs: B-berries; CSA dates; Milk, Cheese, Apple Shares

Wild Maine blueberries will be available at your CSA pick up starting this Wednesday. A couple of folks have asked how long  these fresh blueberries be available. Not long. They’ve a short season. I’d expect no more than two weeks of fresh berries. We won’t have blueberries this Monday (tomorrow, 8/13), but should have them Wednesday (8/15), Friday (8/17) and Monday (8/20) and then for at least another week of CSA distributions. They cost $5.00 per pint. No pre-purchases or ordering required – just pick them up when you get your CSA share.

When does the regular summer CSA end? The week of October 22 is our last summer CSA distribution week. The last distribution will be on Friday, Oct 26.

When do the milk and cheese shares end? When do apple shares start? Our milk and cheese shares run for 8 weeks. The July 1- August 24 share is in progress. The next 8-week milk and cheese shares run from August 27 to October 19. Apple shares start the week of August 27 and end the week of October 19. The deadline to sign up for milk, cheese and apple shares is this Wednesday, August 15.

what is distinctive about the milk? is it raw? Garbis

    • morainefarmer says:

The Appleton milk is not raw – it’s pastuerized. I understand that Jersey milk is higher in calcium, milk fat and protein than other types of milk. I think it tastes better than milk I get in the grocery store. Gretta
