Fall Veggies

yes to freshExtend the season of local eating by signing up for our Extended-Season CSA.  It starts October 25 and cool weather crops are distributed every other Friday through December 6.  Now is the time to sign up

Our Fall Veggie shares include freshly harvested greens from our high tunnel and fields, as well as root veggies and other storage crops grown here on the farm. There are four extended season share distributions: October 25, November 8, November 22 and December 6. The bi-weekly CSA distributions are on Fridays, 1– 7 PM.  Single-item shares – Valley View Farm cheeses, Just Add Fruit pie crusts and Maitland Mountain pickles – can be ordered when you sign up for the CSA share. (You can find the link to the CSA subscription form on the farm blog, right sidebar.

What will be in the share? We are growing some delicious veggies for the Extended-Season CSA: Spinach, kale (red Russian, dinosaur, Portuguese), Swiss chard, arugula, Asian greens, lettuces, lettuce mix, escarole, radicchio, bok choy, cabbage, potatoes, sweet potatoes, shallots, leeks, onions, beets, carrots, watermelon radishes, turnips, parsnips, celery root, winter squash. Plum tomatoes, herbs and sweet peppers might make the share, too, depending on the weather in early October.

What is the deadline for signing up? These CSA shares are available on a first-come, first served basis and they are now on sale to the public. Plenty of shares available right now so sign up soon. We aim to tie up sales around October 1.
