We harvested most of the winter squash yesterday. Earlier than planned, thanks to downy mildew and temps that dropped to the mid-40’s last night. Eating and storage quality suffer when squash gets colder than 50 degrees. Our winter squash field is beautiful – almost weed-free with lovely butternuts, delicata, pie pumpkins and a few other varieties.
